Biography

Hong Zhang began her career in clinical social work over two decades ago, drawn to the intersection of psychology, the body, and relational healing. After completing her training and earning her license as a Clinical Social Worker, she immersed herself in advanced modalities that go beyond traditional talk therapy — modalities that honor the body's innate intelligence and its capacity to process, integrate, and heal.

Over 25 years, Hong has worked with thousands of individuals navigating the aftermath of trauma, from single-incident events to complex developmental wounds carried since childhood. Her clinical path has taken her through hospital settings, outpatient clinics, and ultimately into private practice, where she now offers deeply personalized, experiential therapy in New York City and virtually throughout New York State.

Hong is a co-founder of Double Diamond Wellness Center, where she collaborates with Sam Liebowitz to offer an integrated model of healing that bridges psychotherapy, somatic work, and consciousness development.

Professional Background

Hong holds a Master's degree in Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New York State. Her professional journey has been marked by a commitment to continuing education and advanced certification in cutting-edge therapeutic modalities. She completed extensive training in EMDR therapy and has since advanced to EMDR 2.0 — the latest evolution of the protocol that incorporates updated neuroscience research for more efficient trauma reprocessing.

She is certified in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), having trained under leading practitioners in the field of psychedelic-assisted therapies. This certification allows her to provide therapeutic support before, during, and after ketamine sessions, ensuring that the neuroplastic window opened by the medicine is used for meaningful psychological integration.

Hong is also a certified Transforming Touch® practitioner, trained by Dr. Stephen Terrell. This neuro-physiological modality works directly with the body's primitive survival responses, making it particularly effective for clients with early attachment wounds, developmental trauma, and chronic nervous system dysregulation.

Approach to Healing

Hong's approach is somatic, relational, and experiential. She believes that lasting healing requires more than intellectual understanding — it requires accessing the parts of the nervous system where trauma is stored and allowing those parts to be seen, heard, and gently released within a safe therapeutic relationship.

Most sessions are designed to be experiential rather than purely conversational. Hong works collaboratively with clients to understand how the body, inner parts, and nervous system store life experiences. By tuning into somatic signals — tension patterns, breath, posture, and felt sense — she helps clients move beyond cognitive loops into embodied awareness and resolution.

This approach is especially effective for individuals who have done significant insight-oriented work in therapy yet continue to feel stuck, anxious, depressed, or overwhelmed. Hong meets clients exactly where they are, with presence, attunement, and deep respect for their healing timeline.

Who Hong Works Best With

Hong works well with individuals who have engaged in therapy before and gained significant insight, yet continue to feel stuck. Her clients are often high-functioning people who present well on the outside but carry unresolved pain, hypervigilance, or a persistent sense that something is "off" beneath the surface.

She is particularly effective with clients navigating the aftermath of complex childhood trauma, narcissistic family systems, and relational betrayal. Her somatic and experiential approach resonates with those who sense that talk therapy alone is not enough — that the body holds stories the mind cannot fully articulate.

Hong also supports individuals exploring psychedelic integration, offering a therapeutic container for making sense of expanded states and weaving insights into daily life. Her dual training in KAP and traditional psychotherapy makes her uniquely qualified for this bridge work.

"Healing happens when you feel safe enough to let go."
